I love to be outside in the warm weather and enjoy the sunshine with my family. As you know, I also like to travel to many different hot countries. There are lots of great activities you can do when the weather is good, that it is hard to stay out of the sun. As well as protecting my skin from the sun, I want to make sure I look and feel as radiant as possible. Here is some of my advice for keeping your skin looking its best when it is hot outside:
Wear Sunscreen
The most important part of this guide is reminding you to protect your skin from the sunshine. If you like to be outside a lot, this is especially important. Most sunscreens help you by reflecting the sunlight away from your body or absorbing the UV rays before they reach your skin. If you do not wear sunscreen, the sun can have an aging effect on your skin. A great choice is ClearChoice Sport Shield.
It can be overwhelming when there are so many different types of sunscreen to choose. Having said that, it is important to choose the best sunscreen for your skin type in order for it to work perfectly.
I recommend using a sunscreen that is SPF 15 if you have a relatively normal skin type. If you have a skin condition or history of skin cancer, you will want to try a sunscreen that is SPF 30 or higher.
You can further narrow down your sunscreen choices by choosing one based on your skin type. For example, if you skin is oily, look for a sunscreen that also treats that. If you need a lot of moisture throughout the day, there are many moisturizers with SPF.
If you are going into the water, use a sunscreen designed for that and reapply it when you get out of the water. As a new parent, I know how important it is to remember not to use sunscreen for adults on your children. Your kids skin is will be much more sensitive. Look for specialist sunscreens for children.
Cleanse, Exfoliate, and Moisturize
Of course, it is important to have a good beauty routine all year round. If you already have a good skin care routine that works for you, you should not need to change it much in summer.
If you are looking to bring youthfulness to your skin for summer, you may want to add different products to your routine. Wrinkles and sagging skin can make us feel like hiding in the shade. But, there are creams that can lift saggy neck skin and tighten your face, so you feel fantastic all summer. Consider applying a Best anti-aging serum at nighttime, as you will wake up feeling young and glowing.
Always cleanse your skin, especially if you wear makeup. You should be exfoliating too. Exfoliating with a natural body scrub will help to make your skin feel alive. Do not skip your moisturizing routine in summer. You want to ensure your skin is healthy and hydrated, especially if you have any sunburn.
Use Toners
Toners in spray bottles are ideal for summer. A toner can help to cool your skin down if you feel clammy. It also returns moisture to the skin and closes pores after cleansing. Closing your pores can keep out any impurities in your environment.
Toners are especially useful for those who get oily skin in summer. A toning mist or spray can help to control the amount of oil on your skin. Some toners can even be used to set your makeup.
For a natural toner, you could use rose water in a spray bottle. Rose water is excellent for hydrating the skin.
Tan Safely
In the summer, many of us want a tan, so we can achieve a natural summer glow. There is nothing wrong with wanting to tan. However, you must tan very carefully. Using sunbeds or spending extended periods of time in the sun, can have an adverse effect. Exposing yourself to the sun too much can leave you looking old and tired. That is no good, if you are aiming for beautiful summer skin!
If you feel like you need an extra tanning-boost, use a self-tanning solution. There are many special self-tanning options you can try. These products are designed to give you a natural, gradual glow. You can also just apply bronzer or tinted moisturiser to your skin.
If you must tan outside, you should exfoliate, cleanse, and moisturize your skin. Remember to use sunscreen, drink water, and take regular breaks. To help protect your eyes, which are sensitive, you should be wearing sunglasses and a hat. The great thing about summer hats is that they can look super stylish while keeping you protected.
Wear The Right Makeup
My biggest piece of advice for makeup during the summer is to avoid wearing it when you can. When the weather is hot, makeup tends to melt and wear away quickly. Heavy makeup tends to look unnatural in the summer.
If you are a lover of makeup, consider toning down your usual routine. Use a light foundation or tinted moisturizer, so that your skin can breath. There are even foundations available that are SPF 15. You can use powder or blotting papers throughout the day to keep your foundation looking great.
If you are happy to go without foundation, but would still like to wear some makeup, there are still plenty of options. For a simple, summery look, try this: make your eyes seem brighter by adding a natural eyeshadow color and a little white eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eyes. A little white eyeshadow will open them up immediately. Combined with a little mascara, you will feel and look awake and vibrant. A light lip gloss will make your lips sparkle in the sunlight. Finally, for an extra summery glow, lightly dust your skin with a bronzing powder or shimmer spray.
Change Your Diet
Your diet in the summer is just as important as it is all year round. Make sure that you eat healthily and drink plenty of water. Many of us are guilty of not drinking enough water, because we just forget. However, eating well and staying hydrated will show on your skin. The better you feel inside, the better you will look outside!
Examine Your Skin
Whether you spend a lot of time in the sun or not, you should spend time examining your skin. You should be looking out for any moles or signs of sun damage. If you spot anything you are unsure about, go to see a medical professional. Looking after your skin will help to prevent any issues.
