First and foremost, since announcing our move, I have been blown away by all of the love and support that so many of you have surrounded me with. I cannot thank you enough! I know that I have not been forthcoming with information regarding the move. The reason for that was I needed to process everything. When my beloved grandmother passed away in January she left her house to us. It is the most generous gift anyone has ever given me and when I think about how huge of a financial blessing this is for my family my heart swells with immense gratitude. Having said that, I would trade this home for just one more day with my grandmother in a split second! Thus, I was dealing with grief, plus this strange feeling of guilt any time I felt happiness.
With time, however, I realized that this was my grandmother’s dream: she wanted us to live in her house. Once I made peace with this, what happened next was a whirlwind. I reached out to a friend, Deanna Hooker of Hooker Homes Reality, and I explained the situation to her and she agreed we should put our home on the market immediately. Within one week of our initial conversation, our home was sold and at above asking price! Deanna made the entire process as stress-free and seamless as possible. She knew that not only was this an emotional experience for me, but as a working mom I was overwhelmed to begin with. If you are in the Charlotte, North Carolina area I cannot recommend working with her highly enough. Whether you are buying or selling — I promise you she is the best real estate agent you could ask for.
Here is a little sneak peak into our first house. I will forever remember the memories we created there. While I was never able to finish the endless list of projects that I wanted to do (hello, white picket fence!), I truly loved every inch of it and I hope the couple that bought it from us does too.
