On our son’s first Birthday, my husband and I bought our first house! I am not sure how we will top next year’s Birthday present for Joaquín?
I have been wanting to share this incredible news for over a month now, but we wanted to make certain that we closed on the home before making our official announcement. It has been quite difficult to keep this a secret, especially since I had no idea how absolutely consumed I would be by the process. I had to make it my #1 priority in the month of January and thus everything else in my life (minus my family) was made secondary. I can honestly say it has been one of the most stressful experiences I have ever gone through, however 100% worth it at the end of the day.
My life has always been full of powerful synchronistic moments and this was definitely one of them. Around the end of December, my mom had taken Joaquín out for a ride in the car. For no reason at all, she decided to drive around a neighborhood close to her own house and see if there were any homes for sale. She happened upon one and when she saw that a real estate agent was showing it to clients, she decided to ask if she could see it as well. She instantly fell in love with the place and let Lucas and I know that we had to see it for ourselves. Unfortunately due our busy schedules, by the time we were able to see it, it was already under contract. Every house we saw after that simply did not compare; we could not get it out of our minds. On New Year’s Eve, Lucas and I toasted our champagne glasses at midnight to buying our first home together in 2016. The very next morning, the real estate agent texted us, “Happy New Year, your house is back on the market!” We did not hesitate this time around. We knew this was meant to be and that it was the perfect home for us. We got into a bidding war on Joaquín’s Birthday, however we ended up winning and I will never forget when we received the call from the real estate agent letting us know that the house was ours. Lucas and I were in Joaquín’s nursery playing with him. We were both overcome with emotion and hugged and kissed our son until he could not stand it anymore.
I would be so honored if you would follow us along on our beautiful adventure of renovating, decorating, and creating a lifetime of memories in our new house. I will soon be adding a “Home” section to the blog’s categories, which will allow you to see all of my posts related to the house. We will be moving in on February 19th, so I apologize in advance if you do not hear a lot from me over these next few weeks while we unpack and settle. I do promise updates and photos via social media, so make sure you are following me Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
On a sidenote: The antique keys that Joaquín is playing with in the photos were bought at an antique mall. They are hundreds of years old and come from Europe!
How exciting! Congratulations, I’m looking forward to seeing your blog posts about your new home 🙂

Congratulations on this accomplishment!
It will be a loving home.
I too believe in synchronicities and as my dad says: “What’s yours, nothing or no one can get in the way!” and you know this better right?
Can’t wait to see it.
En hora buena 🙂
Lots of xo,
K
Love your dad’s saying! So true!!! Promise pics soon. Thank you kindly for your thoughtful and sweet words. <3
This is so exciting, it brought tears to my eyes!! I kept waiting to hear what the big surprise was, and I’m thrilled for you guys!!! I can’t wait to see it — through your posts and photos and maybe even in person sometime soon!! I am overjoyed for you!!! I would love to get you something for the house, so if you have any time at all, would you make a wish list on Amazon (or wherever)? I would love to “participate” from a distance! 🙂 🙂
Lots and lots of love!!
Vanssa
You are just the sweetest person in the world, I’m so touched by your words and that you would want to buy a housewarming present!!! Thank you my love! I will definitely be in touch re: present, but just know that your friendship is enough! Love you!
Congrats, Andi
I can’t wait to see it.
Thank you so much! Feels like yesterday we were chatting over French food about houses haha!!!
Congrats on the new home! I know you’ve been thinking about it for a long time. Gav and I bought our first home last fall, and it was definitely an interesting learning process 🙂 Like you, we missed out on the house the first time, but when it went back on the market, we were able to scoop it up! Looking forward to seeing more.
Oh I love that you have a similar story to ours!!! Congrats, I had no idea you bought a home! I like that you said interesting learning process instead of stressful process. I should look at it THAT way instead! I promise more soon!!!
Yaaaaay I’m so excited for you guys! I know how long this search has taken, and it sounds like it was worth it if you finally found the perfect place. I’m excited to see how you decorate it, I’m sure it’ll be beautiful. Huge hugs to you all, and good luck with the big move!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Believe it or not, I’ve had an email half finished to you for weeks with the big news. But, I’ve been so consumed with closing on the house that I couldn’t find the time to finish it. Now you and R have to come and visit us pleeeeeeease! <3
I’m SO excited for you!!! And will be looking forward to following along with your renovating adventures. 🙂

Awesome! Congratulations! Being a homeowner is the most amazing (and at times stressful) thing 😉
The same could be said for motherhood! 😉 Never thought I’d buy a home to be honest. Having a baby scared me less, but well we waited until we found the perfect place! 🙂
