Watching | Copa America
My husband is, of course, cheering for Team Argentina and I Team USA. What are the odds that they would have to play each other? We will definitely have to watch the upcoming match in different locations though, due to our competitive spirits. Lucas claims he is going to find a way to be at the final match in NYC if Argentina makes it all the way. We shall see! Before the Copa America began, we were binge watching Narcos, Entourage, American Crime Story, and Bloodline. If you have any other recommendations please do share in the comments. We are in a phase in our lives where instead of going out for our date nights, we like to stay in, cuddle, watch TV, and eat dinner after Joaquín is asleep.
Reading | Mommy Blogs
I had no idea that the “terrible twos” could start before the age of two. Poor Joaquín (at only seventeen months old) is already throwing one temper tantrum after another. To say I was unprepared is a total understatement. I know there are a myriad of ways to combats tantrums, so I am quickly trying to figure out what works best for me and him. I am not into spanking or yelling, however I have found that if I stay calm and ask him to stop or say no in a loving manner that does not work either. I think mommy blogs usually have the most helpful information out there, so I have been spending any free time I have combing through them looking for answers.
Working On | My Green Thumb
I never, ever thought in a million years I would be interested in landscaping, but now that I have a huge backyard, I am determined to learn how to garden. Our neighbors gave us a three tomato plants, thus I am starting with them first. I swear we visit our local Home Depot at least twice a week looking for inspiration!
Feeling | Content
I am going to get personal here. To help rid myself of my postpartum anxiety and depression, I had to let go of a lot of things. One of those things was going back to work full-time. It did not make sense for our family, despite my careers (Chinese Medicine, photography, and blogging) meaning so much to me. I was able to make peace with my decision, however, because I saw how quickly Joaquín was growing and each day felt so precious. If I had to choose between work and him, he would win in a heartbeat. The career that has suffered the most is my blog. I am lucky if I get to post once or twice a week. I have days where I feel like shutting it down completely, but then I talk myself into sticking with it. I guess what I am trying to say is that My Beautiful Adventures no longer has a set schedule and I am okay with that. I hope you dear readers will be okay with that too? Some weeks you will hear and see a lot from me and others I will disappear. Same goes for social media.
Planning | Lucas’ Birthday
I cannot say anything about it, since I do not want Lucas to know details, but I plan to make his special day unforgettable!
Loving | My Parents Pool
From day one, Joaquín has loved the water. In this way, he is just like me, as the water was a huge part of my childhood. I was a competitive swimmer and not a day went by where I was not in the pool. Already, the weather is in the 100’s here and I can only handle being outside for short periods of time. So, we end up spending most of the day in my parents pool and I could not be happier.

There have been some weekends Scott goes to Home Depot three times in a single weekend, ha! Oh how our lives have changed, right? He’s all about “rescuing” dying plants, and we’ve planted well over 150 in our yard and gardens this year alone.
Awww Lucas and Scott would get a long so well! 🙂 And Joaquin would be running behind them! Teach me how to garden pleeeeeease!
I thoroughly understand life altering and sending blogging to the back burner. I’m in a similar place and I too have made peace with it. :_) I love hearing from you and about your life. 🙂
Oh I would be sooo sad if you stopped your blog babe! Thanks for your kind words always. XO
Yay you finally watched Narcos! I just recently saw that they’re working on a second season. Sounds like you guys are enjoying life, even if it’s at a different pace than before, and that’s what counts. And considering Joaquín has been super ahead of the curve developmentally with everything, I guess it’s not surprising he’s already turning into a toddler monster – but hopefully that means he’ll grow out of it quickly too!
Narcos was the best! We were dying when it was over. We found out that Season 2 starts Sept 2nd! Yes, my life looks a heck of a lot different now than before, but I’m loving it (minus the tantrums). Honestly, somedays he truly fits that name: toddler monster. Ahhhh!!! The other day I just sat down in the middle of Target and cried. He was being that bad! And then we finally get home later and all he wants to do is cuddle in bed and play with my hair. What!?!
Maybe you’ve covered this before Andi and I can’t remember, but are you raising Joaquín to be bilingual? If so, I’m sure that’s an extra challenge to motherhood, but could be SO rewarding for him in the end. I’ve always wondered if I had a child if there was a way to raise him/her bilingual even though my husband and I both speak English. 😉
I haven’t covered that before, I but I sure will now knowing that someone might be interested in it! Thanks for stopping by, miss you!
